JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manager, Accounting and Finance, reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the company and reporting into the investment group. This role ensures the company’s financial stability through cost accounting, treasury management, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger management, and financial reporting. The Manager plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, fixed asset tracking, and inventory management, ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory compliance. This position provides strategic financial oversight to drive operational efficiency and sustainable growth within the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the company’s financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present interim and year-end financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations, and industry-specific financial practices.
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management
- Manage cost accounting processes, analyzing cost drivers and operational efficiencies to support business decisions.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring proper valuation, tracking, and reconciliation.
Accounts Payable/Receivable & General Ledger Management
- Supervise accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions to ensure accurate processing and timely collections/payments.
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial records and reconciliations.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury operations.
- Monitor and manage liquidity to meet operational and capital expenditure needs.
Fixed Asset Tracking & Capital Management
- Maintain accurate fixed asset records, ensuring proper depreciation and asset lifecycle management.
- Support capital investment decisions through financial analysis and reporting.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provide financial insights and scenario planning to support business growth and risk management.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with corporate policies and external regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, procurement, and supply chain teams to align financial strategies with business needs.
- Provide financial insights to support contract negotiations and vendor management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in the mining, manufacturing, or industrial sector.
- Strong experience in cost accounting, financial reporting, and treasury management.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
